Old friends, new friends greet 2017 list at ALA

A long weekend of award presentations and powerfully stated author addresses made for an exciting American Library Association Midwinter meeting. Adding to the buzz was the announcement of the AudiobookSYNC 2017 list in the Exhibits Hall.

Responses to the titles teens can collect over the coming summer, from school and public librarians, measured somewhere close to ecstatic on the enthusiasm scale:

"AIRBORN's on the list?! I LOVE that book and the audio's even better!"

"Oh, I heard MY NAME IS NOT EASY and wanted to keep it!  Now I can and so can my kids!"

The 2017 Chair of the Alex Award Committee recognized THE DORITO EFFECT as a past Alex winner and was pleased to see this recognition of a great adult book for teens on the list.

Talking with people new to SYNC also proved fun and energizing as soon as we cautioned them against their initial feeling of dismay at having missed previous seasons. "There's so much to look forward to this year!" we comforted.

And there is, thanks to Full Cast, Brilliance, and Dreamscape, the publishers of the titles listed in this post, as well as the many other generous contributors to SYNC.
