Classics without snoring

Our 2017 season is robust with confirmed titles now, including two classics from our generous contributors at Naxos AudioBooks. Both have become source stories in a variety of popular media.

Franz Kafka's METAMORPHOSIS has inspired graphic novels as well as actor Greg Edwards' right on Thug Notes episode. Oscar Wilde's THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY has been made and remade into more than ten movies as well as a variety of television show episodes, spanning over a century of video interest. Neither of these authors received the honors in his lifetime that he has since, including prizes named for him.

Several Oscar Wilde Award winners, including Carrie Fisher, will be familiar to contemporary teens. The Franz Kafka Prize is awarded to honor an "a contemporary author whose work addresses the readers regardless of their origin, nationality and culture."

Indeed, both these classic authors do exactly that more than a century after these stories were written, and Naxos has made wonderful choices in bringing the books to audio performance.
